Hi Ladies!
Today I am going to review the Motives 3 in 1 Contour, Bronze, and Highlight Kit. I was given this product as a gift from Kacie, a Motives Beauty Advisor. I was not given this product in exchange for a review. When she came over my house to discuss Motives Cosmetics and what is involved in becoming a beauty advisor, we talked about contouring. We talked a little about the Motives Sculpt Series Palette. I told her how I thought contouring is amazing but how contouring with creams and liquids scare me. She told me that she usually uses powders to contour on herself and that you can create beautiful contouring with powders. Anyways, on to the contour kit!
This kit comes with a contour shade, a bronzer shade, and a highlight shade. The kit retails for $34.95 and can be purchased on the Motives Cosmetics site. The powders are not as large as the eyeshadows in the Motives Mavens Element Palette that I reviewed (HERE) but they are still a decent size.
I really loved that the kit also comes with a little chart that shows you where to put each type of product. I know where to put what but its still nice to have this. Especially for beginners who are just learning to contour and highlight. Learning to contour with powders is also a great idea since it gives a more subtle look. Once you feel comfortable contouring with powders, you can decide if you want to move on to more dramatic contouring with other products.
L-R: contour shade, bronzer shade, and highlight
Here are swatches of each:
What I like about the powders in general is that they have zero shimmer to them. They are matte powders. The contour shade is dark without being TOO DARK for my skin tone. The bronzer is very subtle and has no orange tint to it. The highlight shade makes your skin glow without making it shiny or shimmery. That being said, the contour shade MAY be too dark for people with fair skin tones.
I have been using this kit in my daily routine for the past few weeks. I don't do any major contouring so I am not sure if you can really notice it in pictures. Overall, I am really enjoying this contour kit. I recommend it to any beginner that wants to learn how to contour as well as anyone who likes to contour with powders.
What do you think of contouring? Do you contour on a regular basis? If so, do you prefer doing it with powders or creams/liquids? Post your comments below!
