Review: Ren Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream

This is a review of a cream that I absolutely adore. REN is a brand I've come to trust as every product I've tried has not only been good, but gone beyond the expectations I have. Their products have fair price points, hygienically packaged and with a clear list of the main ingredients in each products with information about what each of them actually does. There's never any wild claims, but the claims they make they always deliver on. Vita Mineral is no different.

REN's Vita Mineral comes in a clear plastic tube, with a white label and the blue stripe marking it belonging to their range of products for 'Normal Skin'. It has a pump dispenser, and the tube is see-through so you can see just how much you've got left. There's also a see-through plastic lid on top. In my opinion, the packaging is absolutely perfect. Plastic makes it easy for travel, the pump makes it hygienic, and the see-through part let's me know exactly when it's time to buy a new one.

For some reason I regard this as my "basic" moisturiser. This is my go-to whenever skin isn't feeling exactly right, but I can't pinpoint what exactly it needs. Then I usually go for this, very much how I used the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturiser - which is the product this is a replacement for!

The point is, even though I regard this as my "basic" go-to foolproof option, my "when-in-doubt", this isn't actually all that basic. It's packed full off the good stuff! The main ingredients are; Tocotrienols which protects against free radicals, Vitamin P which decongests and soothes the skin, Vitamin F which reduces skin sensitivity and Magnesium to boost energy levels and relax the facial muscles.

Looking at that list it's no wonder this works like magic when my skin is a bit iffy, I'm having a bit of a blemished phase, or reacted to a new skincare product. It's obvious from the ingredients that this is absolutely perfect for this exact purpose. But that's not to say it isn't perfect for every day use as well.

You can definitely use this every day, morning and night. It moisturises very well, but not overly so in addition to all the wonderful things listed above. All things that are beneficial and good for the skin not only for right now, but on the long-term. It's not going to do anything absolutely magical - there's no anti-ageing here, or anything to radically boost the glow-factor, but if what your after is just healthy, comfortable and balanced skin - this is a seriously good option to consider!

At least for anyone not on either extreme side of the spectrum, because there is a reason it's marketed for normal skin. If you have dry skin, and then we are talking really dry skin to the point where this is your number one concern - this is probably not going to be enough. If you've got oily skin, the kind that debates wether or not to use a moisturiser at all - this is also most definitely not for you. At least not during the day. It's a viable option for a night cream that gives a bit more than what you can get away with during the day, but for daytime I'd say it's absolutely out of the question.

If you've got normal skin with no particular concerns, or have other serums and moisturisers that are "doing that job" - this would be a good addition to your skincare arsenal. It's got a lot of good stuff, but is still fairly simple and won't irritate your skin. It's also fairly priced, and has the best kind of packaging. You can use it as I do as your "basic" staple that you turn to when you want to get back to basics and let your skin heal, or you can use it as your everyday day or night cream, or both. This would work just as well as either of those - but the point here is; it works wonderfully at just being good to your skin.
