Theme: The Past Meets the Future...Creative Director/Designer Raf Simons showed a gorgeous collection loosely based on "Marie Antoinette as an astronaut in 2000" --think of a merging/convergence of both the famed French historical past with 18th Century Costume references such as the pannier, tab'ed corsets, men's waistcoats, the iconic Dior Bar jacket reinterpreted as an 18th century Frock Coat, "astronaut" jumpsuits straight out of NASA, and 1920's flapper dresses. The show was divided into 8 sections, beginning with the full "Marie Antoinette"-inspired ball gowns and dresses, finishing up with the soft, uneven hemmed "flapper" dresses.
Trends: Ball gowns; flapper dresses; drop-waist shapes; long fitted coats; overt 18th Century Period Costume references; "astronaut" zippered jumpsuits; sequined appliques; Couture mink coats; skirts with hems mimicking the tab'ed hems of 18th Century corsets...and great curved heel shoes!
Colors: Ivory, baby blue, pale pink/blush, deep royal blue
