Meghan Markle and Beyoncé Have Now Met; the Internet Survives, Barely - Vanity Fair Posted: 15 Jul 2019 12:00 AM PDT ![]() It has happened: after much anticipation and buildup, Meghan Markle and Beyoncé, the Duchess of Sussex, and, uh, the Duchess of Music, respectively, have now met. As had been announced in advance, the grand encounter took place at the U.K. premiere of The Lion King on Sunday. The logistics of the meeting were somewhat interesting. Prince Harry and Meghan were among the last arrivals at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, and walked the carpet before entering the venue. Beyoncé and Jay-Z—who were reportedly running late—arrived after the Sussexes, and they were brought back to the end of the carpet, where the meeting took place inside the theater. A line was created of Lion King notables, and Harry and Meghan worked their way down to greet everyone. When Meghan reached Beyoncé and Jay-Z, she gave each a hug, and then chatted with the couple for about a minute, her back facing the press pool, before Harry joined her, giving Beyoncé a double kiss and greeting Jay enthusiastically. While there are some fantastic photographs of the four in conversation, there doesn't appear to be a posed group shot. (We want to imagine there was at very least a selfie of some sort taken inside later in the night.) There are a bunch of videos of the meeting, taken primarily by members of the press pool, though it is quite hard to make out what anyone is saying, save for a few snippets. Rebecca English, royals reporter for the Daily Mail, offered a transcript of one portion of the conversation, indicating that the group spoke about their children. "The baby, so beautiful," Beyoncé said, referencing Archie, with Harry asking how Beyoncé and Jay-Z's twins are, finding out they didn't make the trip to London. Jay-Z also offered some parenting advice to the couple, according to English, as he told them, "The best advice I can give you: always find time for yourself." Many outlets noted that this is the first time Meghan has walked a red carpet since she became a royal—something she of course did all the time in her previous life, when she was a working actress. Meghan and Beyoncé—though they seemingly had not met previously—had something of a digital interaction back in February, when Beyoncé and Jay-Z accepted a BRIT Award by paying tribute to her, filming a video in front of a portrait of Meghan wearing a crown. On her now defunct Instagram account, Meghan posted a shot (with a rounded-corners border) of her posing in front of a brick wall, hot sauce sticking out of her bag, with the caption, "The closest I will ever come to channeling Beyoncé," and hashtag "hotsauceinmybagswag." (The photo credit is given to Jessica Mulroney.) Little did she know at the time she would end up coming a lot closer that. Jay-Z and Beyoncé—who wore a gold gown from designer Cong Tri for the occasion—had met Prince William and Kate Middleton at a very different sort of event, in 2014, when the two couples chatted between the third and fourth quarters of a Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Center. |
Posted: 24 Jul 2019 05:07 AM PDT THE stunning 11-bedroom Hamptons mansion where Beyoncé and Jay-Z once holidayed for $1million a month has been revealed in a series of lavish photos. The home, known as Sandcastle, sprawls over three stories and close to 12 acres with 12 separate bathrooms, a 60-foot heated pool, rock-climbing wall and bowling alley. Fit for the celebrity couple, the home in celebrity hot spot Bridgehampton, is billed as the ultimate choice in luxury, relaxation and entertainment. Jay Z and Beyonce reportedly filmed a music video in the lush property grounds, taking their daughter Blue Ivy there in 2012 for her first summer. At that time, the couple paid $450,000 for their month-long stay, Forbes reported. And now - depending on the season - holidaygoers can expect to fork out as much as $1million for their stay. The Bespoke Real Estate listing reads: "Indulge in any activity your heart desires in this all-inclusive setting. "A recreational pavilion, sunken tennis court with a pergola, 20' x 60' gunite pool with underwater stereo, an oversized hot tub, full outdoor kitchen, basketball court, baseball field and tree house assure something for everyone." The home's grand interior opens up to a magnificent entry hall with elegant bordeaux walnut heated floors, extensive custom millwork, architectural ceilings and high-end finishes. The first level takes guests to an expansive double living room, complete with two fireplaces. A wall of glass doors leads to an outdoor patio retreat. The regal dining room is designed for large-scale entertaining with a butler's pantry, chef's kitchen walk-in refrigeration room, and wine room attached. A stately library, ten-seat theatre with interactive seating and a planetarium also reside on the first floor. Rising to the second floor via elevator, guests can find sleeping quarters and the master suite with a sitting room, wet bar, powder room and master closets. The indulgent master bath is surrounded by honey onyx slabs, and an expansive terrace with an outdoor shower. An additional five bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms are also on the second floor. Separate guest quarters with full apartment amenities including laundry, two bedrooms, private entrance and an eight bunkbed room are attached. In the home's expansive lower level, guests can relax in the private spa suite with a spa room with a fireplace complete with two hydraulic massage tables, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, massage area, and showers. And those who need to stay fit can find squash, racquetball, basketball and volleyball courts with a fully-equipped training room and gym. A state-of-the-art entertainment lounge features a rock-climbing wall, skateboarding half-pipe, arts and crafts area, DJ booth and recording area, as well as a two-lane bowling alley. An enormous recreation pavilion features a yoga studio with fireplace, changing room, gym, covered porch, billiard area, steam room, massage room, and pilates room. Renowned Hamptons developer Joe Farrell expertly designed the mansion which has catered for several celebrity guests. He told property site The Real Deal last year: "If I had built to sell, I never would have put in so many of those things ... Things you'd never get your money back on, like closets that were hundreds of thousands of dollars." In 2017, Beyonce and husband Jay Z reportedly bought a mansion in The Hamptons for a cool $26m. The superstar couple, who are parents to daughter Blue and twins Sir and Rumi, are often seen on holiday in lavish and glamorous locations. What Meghan Markle and Beyoncé Talked About During 'Lion King' Meeting - ELLE.com Posted: 14 Jul 2019 01:07 PM PDT The Duke and Duchess of Sussex walked the gold carpet tonight at The Lion King premiere, making a rare date night out for the couple who welcomed their first child Archie into the world just two months ago. The European premiere of the new Disney adaptation of the film in London 's Leicester Square Comes 25 years after the original Lion King's 1994 debut. It was a moment many had been waiting for when Queen Bey met Princess Meghan: Two of the world's most admired and iconic women finally together; Meghan embracing both Beyoncé and Jay Z with a warn hug. While Meghan has walked many red carpets in her life, this was the first as a member of the Royal Family. The discussion quickly turned to their children, Beyoncé telling the couple, "The baby is so beautiful. We love you guys," before Harry asked about the Carters' new twins who didn't accompany them. Jay Z offered the Royal couple a little parenting advice: "The best advice I can give you [is to] always find time for yourself." Meghan was understood to be "nervous" ahead of her appearance meeting Beyoncé at the premiere. Beyoncé later commented about the meeting with Harry and Meghan, "They are so sweet." But after Beyoncé and Jay Z's tribute after winning a Brit Award, casting the Duchess of Sussex as the Mona Lisa in a Crown, Meghan surely should have been put at ease. Meghan was touched by the gesture. Her close friend Daniel Martin shared when he texted her rather than replying with a bee emoji in reference to the Queen's beyhive instead she replied with the big eye emoji. Beyoncé of course plays Nala in the adaptation of The Lion King. The Lion King has long been one of Harry's favorite films, and Elton John even performed the film's original signature song "Circle of Life" at the couple's wedding reception at Windsor Castle. Meghan looked stunning in a sheer black mesh and silk satin Jason Wu dress at the glittering, star-studded premiere and accessorized with a pair of Nikos Koulis earrings, and her trusty Aquazurra 'Portrait of a Lady' slingbacks. The couple also warmly embraced Elton John and his husband David Furnish inside the theatre. Elton composed much of the music for the original Lion King and has been a close friend and mentor to Harry since Princess Diana's death. The two have travelled the world together, campaigning for AIDS and HIV awareness with Harry carrying on his mother's legacy. The couple attended tonight's premiere in support of Protect the Pride, a new global conservation campaign to raise awareness and support efforts to protect and recover the dwindling lion population across Africa. More than 50 percent of African lions have perished in the last 25 years due to poaching, destruction of environment, and other threats to the majestic animal. The Duke of Sussex has been a longtime advocate of anti-poaching initiatives and front-line conservation projects in Africa. Prince Harry is President of African Parks and Patron of Rhino Conservation Botswana. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to South Africa this fall. The Duke of Sussex will make separate visits to Angola, Malawi, and undertake a working visit to Botswana. |
