Seriously, America trusts this guy to deliver a CIR ?
A billion dollar company is a chop shop, and L1, H1-Bs are low wage workers ? Whats this guy smokin..
And a bunch of imbeciles said "Aye".
these companies would rather wipe their a$$ with $2000 a visa. Forget about 1000 border security personnel.. They could probably street-hire arizona amigos to guard the gates.. and probably toy kites.. not UAVs.. These companies, and their American Lawyers know how to beat around the bush. They wouldn't spend a penny and he could have his $600 million shoved up.... Instead the respected lawmaker can as well have told Infy,Wipro,TCS.. "Send your H1,L1 employees to the border"
And they'd have created a Project Plan and "Outsourced" it as well(to Mexico ??)..
Don't these companies already don't need H1s and isnt' that why H1's volume is down ? They'll beat down that last pathetic guy to manage umpteen projects..
All Clear. "Outsourcing" full throttle.
Sen. Schumer Says : Infosys is a Chop Shop
Heres exactly what Mr. Schumer had to say:
The emergency border funds will be paid for by assessing fees on foreign companies known as chop shops that outsource good, high-paying American technology jobs to lower wage, temporary immigrant workers from other countries. These are companies such as Infosys. But it will not affect the high-tech companies such as Intel or Microsoft that play by the rules and recruit workers in America.

smartsteve is right!
What is being seen here is an extreme irrational response, which will lead to nothing. Still if people feel that sending flowers will help they should do it (although if anybody feels this will actually change how the USCIS functions, they are either extremely naive or highly delusional)
Houston,
The idea of this response is to attract the attention of the public to this issue and to show our protest. We are responding to an injustice done to us in an unorthodox way and I believe that if enough people participate... it will be news enough for the media to cover this story! Once again... this is not for USCIS to change their minds! This is to embarrass them in front of the public!
There was a time when satyagraha was considered irrational! Did that work?
This may not be satyagraha but don't call people irrational and delusional if they are doing something they believe in. At least they are ready to act on this! What have you done? Do u think that sitting around thinking that nothing will happen will fix your problems?
We do not know what the outcome of this endeavor will be but we are at least doing something! None of these people are delusional or irrational! It is you who are delusional if you wait for something to happen and hope that "that something" will be favorable to you.
There may be senators or AILA for instance trying to react to this decision by USCIS... that doesn't mean that you don't act!

Looks like we are the piggy bank for the politicians. Any time they want to fund something and they dont know where to look, tax the H1b holders. The regular and other add-on fees have been increasing for the past 10 years, and yet the quality of service has either remained the same or degraded.
I think it is time we let the news organizations know the game that is being played by the congress.
Also, reading most of the letters that were drafted to the congressmen, they sound very biased towards the benefit of the H1b holder. The congressmen are not affected by this law and hence will not support us if we use such language. What we need to do is speak their language, and state the loss the government will face. Use no mention of our problems, but speak in terms of only their problems that will arise. That way you get their full attention, and at the same time get your point across.

These so called Law Makers also should make a decision, that they would nottake any taxes such as Income Tax, employment taxes, Sales Taxes from the Non Permanent residents if they deprieve the Non Permanent residents of the Driving license.
They also should bring laws that Non PR should not be given access to university.
That way, the whole MI economy tumbles like a card tumble.
I believe their brain needs to be outsourced like the MI economy which is losing to outsourcing.
I believe u all should boycott in front of BMV and Governors Office one day taking leave from your work. At the same call Lou Dobbs ( A son of anti immigration) and other news agencies.
Also call the CLintion and Romney who won the caucus there on the day u protest.
Let these lawmakers then decide how much it costs to MI becoz of Legal Immigrants.
Challenge it in court of Law . Policy makers seem not have penny sense in MI

Some of you say, why bother about these folks who will not change. But, I have noticed that these folks do what they are doing because they think what they do is right. So nothing wrong in poking at these folks.
Sure, its just that I think its more effective to "poke" your friends/colleagues instead of anonymous posters on a forum.
For the forum, IMHO its probably better to stick to logical reasoning rather than indulging in rhetoric.

Check out immigrationportal site. In the I-140 section , you will find some experience similar to yours. You might have to submit an educational evaluation to cofirm that what you did id equal to a 4 year degree in US. Also, the requirement in LC would be important. If it says equivalent or foreign equivalent for degree , you will have more luck. Post your question in IP site and someone who is undergoing/has undergone similar situation can guide you better.
Also my personal opinion is if you can reword "BSc+PG diploma from NIIT or across the street computer institute as equivalent to US BS degree" , it might sound better. Afterall most of the folks who might be able to help you better on this may be the across the street ones. Just my opinion.

In simple language this is the explanation of problem:
Total visa numbers are devided into say 5 categories (EB1,2,3,4,5 etc) with certain percentage each.
In each category there is a country limit. But if not used by other countries
within a time limit, HOW to use the excess numbers? Simple answer could be let unused numbers be open for use for heavly subscribed countries in the SAME category.
But the BILL PROPOSES, if for a category, given visa numbers are not used (according to the country limit)
within a time limit , the excess number will be open for use for unskilled category.
That makes Skilled ones (EB3, EB2, EB1) loose the advantages which they have
now i,e, unused numbers be open for use for heavly subscribed countries in the SAME category
If American companies needed more people from India, china because they are
available, Why US govt. restricts that in GC process ? When they are not
implementing in H1B visa numbers by any country quota?

Hi friends,
Here is what my lawyer sent me! Forwarding to you all so that you can get some idea what they are planning to do. Of Course she is charging me 250$ for this info!. I am sharing this as you have contributed and Will contribute to IV.
------------------Here is the lawyer email---------------------
As you know, you and your wife will be able to file your applications to adjust status to permanent residence in July 2007. You will need to prepare the following for your adjustment applications:
1. Form I-485, Application to Adjust Status. You can find this Form on the Internet here:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485.pdf
Please complete this form in draft format for you and your wife. Please write "unknown" instead of leaving questions unanswered.
2. Form G-325, Biographic Information. You can find this Form on the Internet here:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-325a.pdf
Please complete this form in draft format for you and your wife. Please write "unknown" instead of leaving questions unanswered.
3. Photographs. You and your wife must each have six color photographs taken in accordance with the photo specifications that you will find here:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/guide/composition/composition_874.html
4. Passports, Forms I-94 and Nonimmigrant Visa Documents. Please send us a copy of every page, including any blank pages, of each of your current and any prior passports. Please also include copies (front and back) of each of your Forms I-94. Please make sure that the date and place of entry on the I-94 copies are clearly legible.
5. Birth and Marriage Certificates. Please send us a copy of your and your wife’s birth certificates and of your marriage certificate. If your birth certificates do not contain your name, your date and place of birth, and both of your parents' names, you will probably have to get affidavits from parents or older family members to fill in the blanks. We will review your documents and let you know if affidavits will be needed.
6. Medical Exams. You each must have a medical exam done by a CIS approved physician. It is my understanding that it is already becoming difficult to get appointments with these physicians. You can locate these physicians at this website:
https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV
The exam will include a blood test for AIDS and other diseases, a physical exam, and a skin test, and perhaps a chest x-ray, for tuberculosis. The physician will complete the forms and return them in sealed envelopes. The envelopes must remain sealed.
Immigration law requires that you submit proof of vaccinations with your applications for adjustment of status. You will find the vaccination sheet that the CIS physician must complete and enclose with your medicals here:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/pdf/ti-03/appdx-a_693vacc.pdf
Please take proof of your prior vaccinations to the medical exams. If you do not have proof of prior vaccinations, you will probably have to receive those vaccinations at this time. If that is the case, it may be more cost effective to have the vaccinations done before you go for the examinations and then take evidence of those vaccinations to the CIS physician.
7. Identification Documents. Please send us two color, slightly enlarged copies of your and your wife’s drivers licenses or other photo ID, with the photos as clear as possible.
8. Employment Verification Letter. I will forward a format for this letter to your employer.
